IPB ImageRecent developments in the Zmodeler community have led to the release of a WFT Exporter, meaning that modders can now export their models in a format that can be used within GTA IV. This almost immediately led to the creation of some simple vehicle modifications, convertible versions of cars etc. and we're now also seeing conversions from other games such as NFS:MW and Juiced 2 to name a couple, in addition of course to custom made models.

Since this has all happened over the past week or so, I figured this weekend would be a good time to add them all to our database and to announce them here. Below is a list (not exhaustive) of a whole bunch of mods we've added, hopefully some will be of interest to you. If you perhaps have stopped playing IV for a while, why not pick it up again and add some new cars to it?

Browse our bike and car mods, or take your pick from these 30 recently added ones below.

<div style="width:600px;margin: 0 auto;"><div class="left" style="width:300px;">

</div><div class="right" style="width:300px;">

</div><div class="clear"></div></div>

Remember you'll need a tool such as SparkIV or OpenIV to modify your game. Since GTAForums is currently down we've provided a mirror of SparkIV, version 0.6.2, which has been fixed by gamerzworld to work with the latest patch.

IPB ImageWhile we're on the subject of downloads, I'd also like to say that I'm planning on making a few improvements to the way our database works and looks soon. I've already search engine optimised most links, but that doesn't really concern you. In terms of the front end, we should have a better ratings system done soon, fancy AJAX and everything. You'll be able to hover over stars and click, rather than having to choose from a dropdown box.

I have a few other ideas in mind, but if you have any suggestions for us please leave them in the comments so I can read over them and maybe add any that I think would be useful.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info Chris. Too bad I don't have it for the PC. Also are you going to add more cars daily?

Well, it ain't made by him. I've saw tons in GTANet, but it's down now for some reason and well, you can't get anything from there so fast.

Yes, I hope there will be more as I should say to my IV: "Prepare to be vehicle-modded :P"

The Supra link doesn't work, Chris.

Fixed.

@RAPTORX22: If not daily it should be at least more frequently than I have been doing recently. But I won't be posting news about them everyday, maybe save that for the weekends.

What?!?! Where are the Mustangs!?

JK, I'm probably going to upgrade Rocket Box (finally) so thanks for the links straight to the cars.

Mustangs have been pretty popular in the previous games, someone will make one soon :P

I've been watching GTAF's model development topic for months, and I'm glad that their efforts did bear fruit... :awesome:

The Skyline is amazing. Fucking amazing. That's some good stuff there. :) Pity I don't have a good PC to do this on.

Indeed. Also, someone will have made a Subaru Impreza WRX 22B STi by then I expect, they truly still are the best Impreza's.

I'm so jealous. The mod scene on PS3 was supposed to be groundbreaking, and all we get are a few maps and characters for Unreal Tournament 3.

haha, I actually went out and bought the PC version yesterday after reading this. Very good news! I can't wait to start installing these awesome mods once I get my game running stably. Thanks to all those who have been working on this.

AJAX gives me nightmares, but they're very nice visually with less flickering

Crap, my PC is too slow to run GTAIV and I'm too rubbish at anything to do with images/design etc. to make textures or models... Always wanted to make some weapon/car mods for San Andreas and now GTA IV is out :bashhead:

Hi. I'm new here.

I have been trying with the Xbox 360 scene to get some mods in that GTA IV.

I was thinking the other day. If it is at all possible to extract car models from Midnight Club: LA, then could you guys possibly convert them to GTA IV? Would be nice to have Midnight Club's stable of cars for your devious GTA needs.

BTW, I mean if I could extract the cars from 360 MC:LA, could you guys convert them to PC GTA IV?

Ask one of the many modding teams on the net. Not sure we have any actual modders here to do it, but it would be possible yes.

So I take it that in IV you can only replace cars and not simply add more, as was the case in Vice City, correct?

MrLlamaLlama's photo
MrLlamaLlama 18th July, 2009 @ 15:53 - Permalink

Probably the same case, yes. Though if it wasn't, i shouldn't imagine it'd be advised given the instabilities most have experienced on the PC version.

It was possible to add cars but I think it required hacking the main.scm files, meaning your old save games wouldn't work and such. So, for most people, it was always too much hassle so we all stuck with replacing cars.

Same is most likely true with IV, although I'm not sure we have tools for hacking the scm files yet so it's probably not possible just yet.
